IEEE-DAY 2016 celebrations

IEEE day is celebrated worldwide to mark the anniversary of the technical organisation. IEEE SJCE has also been celebrating IEEE day at the college and the hub level. This year, the IEEE day celebrations at the college level were marked by two events – an Industrial visit, and a Talk by an imminent personality. => The industrial visit - Knowledge is incomplete without practical exposure. Keeping this in mind, IEEE-SJCE planned for an industrial visit on october 1st as a part of IEEE DAY 2016 celebration to LeePra technologies, which is a PCB manufacturing company. This visit was preceded by a soldering and etching workshop. This again helped the students improve their soldering and etching skills and help them get to know about the advanced technologies used for the same. Around 150 students took part in the industrial visit. This industrial visit was the first of its kind organized by IEEE-SJCE. => Talk by Dr. Shivanand Kanavi - Dr. Shivanand Kanavi, son of great kannada poet Sri Channaveera Kanavi is a famous author in electronics and also a theoretical physicist from IIT Kanpur. He has also been a research scholar at IIT Bombay. He has authored a highly acclaimed book 'Sand to silicon-The amazing story of digital technology. Dr Shivanand Kanavi is known to be a good orator and is always willing to talk to young minds. As a part of IEEE DAY 2016 IEEE-SJCE had organized a special talk by Dr.Shivanand Kanavi on 1st October at 5pm. Dr Sudarshan Patil Kulkarni,a renowned lecturer of SJCE E&C department Dr. shivanada Kanavi, and also a friend of introduced the chief guest. The session was interactive. Questions were asked regarding various aspects of the development of electronics and problems faced by the technologists during the development of IT industries. The session was held till 7pm in the evening. Around 50 students got motivated by his talk which covered various aspects of field of electronics. The audience felt grateful as the talk was interactive and gave space to present individual opinion. IEEE SJCE also participated in the hub level IEEE celebrations that were held in the premises of the Mysore Palace. The day was dedicated to spreading awareness about IEEE among the public, and a few mind boggling games for the volunteers. => Drone photography - The rise in popularity of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), or drones, over the past years comes as no surprise, they’re great fun to fly and upon strapping a camera to them they can deliver some stunning aerial imagery. IEEE-SJCE took a step in capturing the members through aerial photography on the occassion if IEEE DAY 2016.
